Evil Under the Sun

The Wachowskis’ ambitious sci-fi epic used Mallorca’s most dramatic landscapes for its post-apocalyptic sequences. Sa Calobra’s towering limestone cliffs and turquoise waters appeared as a primitive future world, while the serpentine road to Formentor and the valleys around Sóller provided otherworldly backdrops for this six-story narrative spanning centuries.

The adaptation of Jojo Moyes’ bestselling novel chose Port de Sóller as the setting for its most romantic sequences. Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin rode the iconic wooden tram between Sóller and the port, creating one of the film’s most memorable scenes. The harbour’s crescent-shaped bay and the surrounding Tramuntana mountains provided a picture-perfect Mediterranean backdrop.

Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson brought their comedic talents to Mallorca in this remake of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Palma’s elegant streets and Port de Sóller’s charming harbour served as the fictional French Riviera town of Beaumont-sur-Mer, showcasing Mallorca’s ability to double for any Mediterranean luxury destination.

Considered one of the greatest Spanish films ever made, Berlanga’s dark comedy about a reluctant executioner was partly filmed in Mallorca. The film’s biting social commentary and masterful direction have earned it a permanent place in world cinema history.
